Karnataka Congress Veteran Praises BJP MP

A startling development in the political sphere of Karnataka saw Shamanur Shivashankarappa, an experienced leader from Karnataka Congress, endorse BJP MP BY Raghavendra. According to reports from the Reader Wall source, the Congress leader urged residents of the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency to vote for the re-election of Raghavendra, who is also the son of the former Karnataka Chief Minister, BS Yediyurappa.

Urging for Re-election at Award Function

The surprising announcement was made during the Guru Basavashri Award Pradhan and the Spirituality Conference, which was organized in Bekkina Kalmata, Shivmogga. The endorsement was met with surprise as Shamanur Shivashankarappa received the esteemed Guru Basavashri Award at the event.

During his speech, Shivashankarappa remarked on the ongoing development work in the Shivmogga district and commended the people for electing a good MP. He further emphasized that the elected Lok Sabha members should prioritize the welfare and development of the people.

Jagadish Shettar Returns to BJP

Earlier on Thursday, the re-joining of former Karnataka Chief Minister, Jagadish Shettar, to BJP marked another unexpected turn of events for the Congress in the state ahead of the legislative elections in 2023.

At an event held in the national capital, Shettar made his rejoining official in the presence of prominent leaders such as BS Yediyurappa, Union Minister Bhupender Singh Yadav, Karnataka BJP president Vijayendra Yediyurappa, and Union Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

Shettar’s Homecoming to BJP

Jagadish Shettar expressed happiness on his return to the BJP, describing the party as his “home”. He also mentioned his fruitful discussions with national leaders such as Amit Shah and JP Nadda, as well as the state leaders.

Responding to questions regarding his take on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the former Chief Minister confirmed that he would follow directions from the high command.

Veteran BJP leader BS Yediyurappa welcomed Jagdish Shettar back to the party, acknowledging that the latter had been contemplating rejoining for some time. Yediyurappa further remarked on Shettar’s unconditional return to the party following a meeting with Amit Shah.

Speculations were rife about Shettar’s return to BJP for several days, and his rejoining has put a rest to these rumors. He had quit BJP to join Congress in April 2023, ahead of the Karnataka legislative elections. This move has been viewed as symptoms of the leadership crisis in Congress, according to many observers.
