WhatsApp Develops Pinned Events Feature for Community Info
WhatsApp has been observed working on a new feature which lists and pins important events within community group chats. This development was noticed in their latest version release for Android, according to information from our sources.
Detailing Pinned Events Feature
Based on reports, the forthcoming feature will allow members of a community chat group to establish reminders for certain events. Auto-pinning of scheduled events within the community information tab is also under development per the news sources. The placement of these future event reminders will remain highlighted at the top of the screen for every member to view and retain.
For now, this feature is, however, only accessible to the Beta testers of WhatsApp. General availability is expected in the future updates of this immensely popular app.
Another new feature in the pipeline
In addition to the aforementioned feature, WhatsApp is reportedly on the verge of rolling out a unique functionality that would let Android users share files with others in their proximity. This upcoming feature is said to draw similarities with ‘AirDrop’, a file-sharing feature from Apple.
Though this proximity file sharing feature of WhatsApp is not yet available for Beta testers, sources hint at the addition of this feature soon. This could potentially allow users to ”Share files with people nearby”, along with showing a list of neighboring users. More information is expected to be released via our future updates.
