‘Kaante’: From A Small Endeavour to a Big Hit

Gupta revealed interesting backstory about the film ‘Kaante’. Originally, it was intended to be a modest film featuring fresh faces. However, Sanjay Dutt encouraged him to scale up his venture. As a result, the cast was bolstered with big names like Amitabh Bachchan, Dutt himself, Sunil Shetty, and Lucky Ali. This modification in strategy proved advantageous as ‘Kaante’ turned out to be a blockbuster, minting a humongous Rs. 164 crores post its release on the 20th of December, 2002, under PNC Films, according to Reader Wall sources.
