Rise to Stardom: A Journey from Humble Roots

Meher’s entry into acting began with Hindi movies, making his debut in the film Bhuvan Shome in 1969, a masterpiece directed by the reputable Mrinal Sen. However, it was his superb performance in the 1974 film Ankur that projected him into national celebrity status, rewarding him with the prominent National Film Award for Best Actor.

With his capability to effortlessly straddle the boundaries of both the Hindi and Odia film industries, Meher emerged to be a well-known and admired figure in each.
