Stuntwoman Mother and Action Director Father
In a personal disclosure during a recent interview, Shetty expressed that his family’s connection to the film industry was not solely through his father, the renowned action director and actor Muddu Babu Shetty. His mother, Ratna, was similarly involved and performed as a stuntwoman for acclaimed actresses such as Hema Malini and Vyjayanthimala.
Citing his mother’s action sequences, Rohit stated, “My mom was a stuntwoman. The stunts you see in ‘Seeta aur Geeta’ and Vyjayanthimala’s tumbling down staircases, that’s all my mom.” He continued, “The fan sequence in ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’ or the top angle shots on the bike of Rajesh Khanna in ‘Andaz’ song ‘Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhana’, also featured my mother. So, breaking bones, either ours or others’, has always been a family affair.”
Shetty’s Father and His Impressive Filmography
Speaking about his father, MB Shetty, the acclaimed director of Singham 3, commented, “He was not just a character actor, but a skilled action director as well. Back then, without the existence of social media, many were unaware of his contributions. The innovative glass-breaking action sequences in ‘Deewaar’s’ warehouse scene was his brainchild. Despite coming from humble beginnings, he was a very soft-spoken, humble, and emotional individual.”
MB Shetty’s noteworthy filmography includes action-directing for films like ‘Don’, ‘The Great Gambler’, ‘Trishul’, ‘Deewaar’, and ‘Shalimar’. In addition to performing stunts, Ratna Shetty also acted in films such as ‘Darar’, ‘Bade Ghar Ki Beti’, and ‘Yaar Gaddaar’.
