Dr. Gerald Pinto Receives 2024 Konkani Literary Award

The recognition comes from the notable association, Konkani Lekhak Sangh-Karnataka. Richard Moras, the group’s Convener, announced this news at a press meeting held at the Mangaluru Press Club.

The Konkani Lekhak Sangh-Karnataka, established in 2018, has been honoring literary individuals since 2022 for their remarkable contributions to Konkani literature. The latest commendation for Dr. Pinto underscores his everlasting dedication in promoting Konkani culture and literature.
Dr. Pinto: A Multifaceted Luminary
Dr. Pinto’s distinguished career is packed with accomplishments. Notably, he served as the President of the Catholic Sabha Central Committee and functioned as the Editor of ‘Amcho Sandesh.’ His varied roles in the education and banking sectors underscore his commitment towards the enrichment of the Konkani language. With 6 novels, 75 short stories, and over 900 articles under his belt, Dr. Pinto firmly stands as a stalwart of Konkani literature.

The Sandesha Foundation in Mangaluru will host the awarding ceremony on February 17, 2024. In honor of his indelible contributions to Konkani literature, Dr. Pinto will be granted a Rs 25000 cash prize, a citation, and a memento.
