About the Movie ‘Wicked: Part One’
‘Wicked: Part One’ is eagerly awaited by fans across the world. Jon M Chu, with a well-crafted script by Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz, has directed this musical fantasy film. The movie is the first adaptation in a pair, based on Holzman and Schwartz’s stage production ‘Wicked’. The foundation of the musical is well-rooted in Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West’, along with elements borrowed from L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel, ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ and its 1939 film version.
The film boasts a talented cast led by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. They are supported by stellar performances from Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum, and Michelle Yeoh.
