Tragedy on Salem-Vriddhachalam Highway: 3 Dead and 14 Injured in Lorry-Van Collision

News comes from sources at Reader Wall that a horrific accident on the Salem-Vriddhachalam highway resulted in three fatalities and 14 injuries in Naraiyur early on January 27. The victims who lost their lives in this unfortunate incident were identified as 29-year-old N. Uthirakumar, 17-year-old V. Yuvaraj and A. Anbu Selvan.

The Event that Led to the Tragic Loss

Our Reader Wall sources stated that around 25 members from the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), hailing from Bhuvanagiri in Cuddalore district, were returning in a tourist van from a party conference at Siruganur near Tiruchi. The event took place on Friday evening and the party members were headed back to Villianur near Bhuvanagiri. The tragedy occurred when their vehicle approached Naraiyur around 2.50 am. The driver of the van lost control of the vehicle which resulted in a head-on collision with an oncoming lorry transporting goods.

Immediate Response by Authorities

Upon receiving information about the accident, personnel from the Police and Fire and Rescue Services rapidly arrived on the scene from Veppur. The injured were promptly moved to the government hospitals in Vriddhachalam, Veppur, and Perambalur. The lorry driver, 37-year-old K. Senthil Gavaskar, was transferred to the Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), and the 26-year-old van driver, S. Chiranjeevi, was referred to the Tiruchi GH. Authorities have registered a case in relation to the incident.
