Political Discourse in Jammu and Kashmir: AICC Calls for Unity, Criticism of BJP’S Policies Continues

Members of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) recently gathered in New Delhi for a meeting with the All India Congress Committee (AICC). The spokesperson for AICC, ex-MP Charan Dass, along with other important members of Congress, addressed the meeting, focusing on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. They stressed the need to oppose the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which they believe are hurtful towards common people and young individuals, specifically in Jammu and Kashmir.

Double Engine Government: A Critique by Charan Dass

Charan Dass expressed his strong disapproval of BJP’s proposed ‘double engine government’. He pointed out that the BJP’s own central government agencies have recorded that Jammu and Kashmir is lagging in several developmental aspects due to their policies. The critique served as a significant challenge to the BJP, which has been promoting its dual control system at the state and central levels as a solution for faster development.

Neeraj Dangi’s Disapproval of BJP’s Governance

Rajya Sabha member Neeraj Dangi voiced his dissatisfaction with the governance of BJP. He criticized it as a time of mismanagement and struggle for ordinary citizens, blaming the Modi-led government of participating in confusing political maneuvers and propaganda. His points reflect an intensifying sentiment among opposition parties that the governance of BJP is characterized more by false promises than substantial results.

Call for Unity by Bharat Sinh Solanki

The AICC officer responsible for Jammu and Kashmir affairs, Bharat Sinh Solanki, appealed for unity among the party members to oppose the BJP’s practices and to reinforce the presence of Congress at the local level. His addresses highlighted the issues faced by the public and the inadequacy of the BJP government in tackling critical problems such as price inflation, growing unemployment, and demands to restore the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting also provided JKPCC president Vikar Rasool Wani with a platform to articulate his condemnation of the BJP for downgrading Jammu and Kashmir to a Union Territory status. The Congress leaders collectively discussed the political situation and suggested strategies to strengthen Congress’s position in Jammu and Kashmir. The JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla and representatives from Leh and Kargil were also in attendance, updating the AICC leadership about local political activities and organizational actions.
