A Tumultuous Time in Bihar Politics
The political climate in Bihar is heated at the current moment. There is speculation that Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister and JD(U) president, may flip his stance and return to the BJP-led NDA. The appointment of Bhupesh Baghel by the Congress comes amidst this uncertainty.
The Role of Senior Observer
Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress chief, has selected Baghel as the party’s senior observer. He will coordinate not only the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ but also assorted party activities taking place in Bihar. This information comes via a statement from the party’s general secretary organisation, K.C. Venugopal.
The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’
As per the party’s plans, Rahul Gandhi, who leads the yatra, will take a two-day break from January 26 to 27. The journey will then recommence from Jalpaiguri in West Bengal. The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ is projected to enter Bihar on January 29, before returning to West Bengal via Malda on January 31. The ambitious yatra, which spans over 6,700 kilometres, originates in Manipur and will conclude in Mumbai.
