Freedom Front Plus to Kick-Off 2024 Campaign
The Freedom Front Plus (FF+), a native political party in South Africa, has announced its plan to officially start its campaign for the 2024 general election. The event, scheduled to take place on 2 March 2024 at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria, will also notably mark the party’s thirtieth founding anniversary. According to our sources, this critical milestone is going to be celebrated alongside the launch of their election campaign.
FF+’s History and Journey
Exposed to public life just before the advent of South Africa’s first democratic elections in 1994, the FF+ was co-founded by renowned figures like Dr. Pieter Mulder and General Constand Viljoen. The party’s main goal initially was to champion Afrikaner interests, particularly focusing on establishing an Afrikaner homeland. However, the party’s direction has since evolved, now primarily advocating for the preservation of cultural rights of Afrikaners and striving to defeat the current ruling party, the African National Congress (ANC), through formidable alliance politics.
Recent Electoral Successes
Through the years, the FF+ has maintained a solid leadership and a consistent supporter base. In recent elections, the party has demonstrated significant expansion and prosperity. The 2019 general elections saw the party increasing its seats in the National Assembly from four to ten, marking an impressive 60% increase. This surge in support is believed to primarily originate from urbanized areas, including Gauteng, Johannesburg, Tshwane, and Cape Town.
In addition, the FF+ achieved considerable success in the 2016 and 2021 local government elections, gaining seats across all nine provinces for the first time in its history in 2021. The party’s growing influence was further validated by its performance in by-elections between 2019 and 2020, especially in the North West province, where it notably displaced the Democratic Alliance in several localities.
Looking Ahead to the 2024 General Election
As the FF+ gears up for the upcoming 2024 general elections, it appears to be in an even stronger position, given its momentum from recent electoral successes and the prevailing discontent with traditional parties among White and Coloured minority voters in specific regions.
