Center Criticized by Congress Over Inflation, Unemployment, Recession, and Conflicts
The Congress, on January 27, took a dig at the Centre, stating that half of India’s population is concerned about the escalating inflation, economic downturn, unemployment, and conflicts. According to them, the priority of the Narendra Modi government seems to center around diverting the people’s focus away from these pressing issues. Soaring Vegetable Prices
Based on a media report, Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary of Congress, maintains that the cost of vegetables has skyrocketed between 15 to 60 per cent over the past year. Ramesh, speaking in Hindi, voiced that a third of Indians are stressed about job loss this year under what he described as the ‘mehngaai kaal’ of ‘ahankaracharya’ (era of inflation borne of arrogance).
‘Every Second Indian Suffering’
Ramesh further claimed that, “Every second person in India is suffering under ‘anyay kaal’ (era of injustice) and is distressed due to the surge in inflation, economic recession, unemployment and conflicts, but the Modi government is busy diverting the attention of the country in its conventional style.” Yet, he asserted his faith in Congress that it would persist in its fight to grant fair justice to the citizens.
‘Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra’ to be Resumed
Jairam Ramesh announced the recommencement of the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra’ from Jalpaiguri starting from the afternoon of January 28. Under the leadership of senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Yatra had been on a break and would be revived with a ‘padyatra’ in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. The Congress continues its onslaught on the government, criticizing their management of the economy and highlighting the growing concerns about rising unemployment and increasing prices.
