Barbara Makara-Maccugen, also known as Obaatanpa Barbara, is a prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary aspirant for Fanteakwa North Constituency. Recently, she launched the OBAATANPA FUND with a total of One-Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis. The main objective of this fund is to provide support to the polling station executives and electoral area coordinators within the constituency. The OBAATANPA FUND aims to improve the living standards of NPP delegates in Fanteakwa North Constituency.

Launch of the OBAATANPA FUND

The official launch ceremony took place on January 10, 2024, in Begoro, Eastern Region. The fund was initiated with a seed capital of Ghc50,000. Obaatanpa Barbara has committed to contributing an additional Ghc50,000 upon her election, and an annual top-up of Ghc10,000 as long as she serves as MP. Initially, she had announced a Ghc20,000 seed capital, but later increased it to Ghc50,000 in cash, attributing the increase to God’s grace.

Proposed Policies and Plans

In addition to the OBAATANPA FUND, Barbara has proposed a range of policies aimed at further improving the living standards of the constituency’s delegates. She plans to establish a local office that will specifically address the needs of delegates, with a focus on areas such as health, agriculture, education, sports, talent development, and transport. Furthermore, she has proposed the introduction of Long Service Awards to recognize party members who have dedicated over ten years of service to the party.

A Call for Unity and Decorum

During her address, Obaatanpa Barbara urged her supporters to maintain a sense of decorum in politics. She emphasized the importance of unity within the NPP and the need to engage with potential voters from other parties. Positioning herself as a unifying figure, Barbara showcased her ability to appeal to non-NPP members in the upcoming general elections.
