PM Modi Pushes for Development in Tripura with Projects Worth Over Rs 8,500 Crore
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently unveiled several developmental projects in Tripura, India, remotely. These initiatives, amounting to over Rs 8,500 crore, include the state’s second Integrated Check Post in Sabroom, as well as several other infrastructural enhancements.
Sabroom’s Integrated Check Post: Boosting Trade Connectivity
PM Modi’s most significant unveiling was the inauguration of Sabroom’s second Integrated Check Post (ICP). This project, positioned at the southernmost tip of Tripura bordering Bangladesh, is intended to improve trade links with South-East Asian countries.
Rural Water Supply and Land Port Initiatives
Besides the ICP, the Prime Minister also inaugurated tap connections for approximately 1.46 lakh rural households. A Land Port, which values Rs 230 crore, was launched at Sabroom to promote better movement between the Northeast Region (NE) and Bangladesh.
Additional Initiatives
Other developmental projects initiated by PM Modi include the Agartala Western Bypass, several road constructions, a new depot for the Indian Oil Corporation at Sekerkote and an integrated rehabilitation centre for drug addicts.
Chief Minister’s Insights
At the event, Dr. Manik Saha, the Chief Minister of Tripura, underscored the importance of these initiatives for Tripura’s progressive trajectory. He suggested that these ventures were in line with the broader vision of a successful India, which is synonymously being termed as Viksit Bharat Viksit Tripura.
The Sabroom Land Port, known for its extensive facilities such as a cargo administrative building and a passenger terminal, had its foundation stone laid just last year.
A Ripple Effect on Politics
On a tangential political note, the recent shift of politicians from the Congress to BJP in Gujarat has stirred some waves within the party. However, Congress leader Paresh Dhanani emphasized that Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will maintain a positive effect. This venture aims to unify the populace while preserving the fundamentals of the Constitution in preparation for the 2024 elections.
