UP Chief Minister Uses Technology to Boost Transparency in Public Schemes

At an event focused on youth empowerment, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh underscored the importance of tech-infused transparency in scheme implementation. According to CM Yogi, technology presents a potent weapon in the battle against corruption and it’s integration is not only fundamental but also imminent.

Smartphone and Tablets Distribution

The smartphones and tablets distribution event was held at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University under the auspices of the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme. Approximately two crore youths will benefit from this digital initiative, an effort by the state government towards moulding self-reliant and competent young citizens equipped with the latest technological tools.

Bestowing the Power of Technology

The state government’s proactive approach was displayed as CM Yogi handed over this digital baton to 15 students among those gathered. He stressed on the value of technology, citing numerous real-world applications. Through technology, the youth will be able to leverage numerous policies, such as PM Startup, Standup, and Mudra, and also access the Chief Minister’s Youth Self-Employment Scheme.

Technology to the Rescue

CM Yogi, while shedding light on the crime-ridden public distribution system pre-2017, pointed out how the situation was dire, especialy in Kushinagar, Deoria, Sonbhadra, Gorakhpur, and Chitrakoot. A revolution of sorts took place, post his assumption of office in 2017. A week into his tenure, a raid was initiated resulting in the identification of 30 lakh fake ration cards. Technology came to rescue as all ration shops were linked to the point of sale system and everyone was issued an Aadhaar card-linked ration card. Today, Uttar Pradesh boasts of having one of the finest public distribution systems in India.

Prospects of Higher Education

Drawing Lessons from Wars

CM Yogi also drew attention to an emerging trend where countries such as Russia, Israel, South Korea, and Germany, post the aftermath of major wars, have shown an increased demand for Indian human resources in their reconstruction phase. This could open up avenues for the youth from Uttar Pradesh, providing a substantial salary with perks like free food and accommodation.

Development in Ayodhya

Pertaining to the infrastructural developments in Ayodhya, the Chief Minister defended the laying of broader roads. According to him, the main aim of these developments is to manage the increasing tourist influx and provide convenience on par with the Khichdi fair of the Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur, where wider roads ensure crowd management.

Aligning with ‘Panch Pran’

Chief Minister Yogi urged the youth to embody the spirit of ‘Panch Pran’ – the five pledges set forth by PM Modi as a roadmap for India’s progress. In his interaction with students, CM Yogi advocated the embracing of skill development and promised possible support in realizing their dreams.

Wrapping Up the Ceremony

The event was concluded by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Poonam Tandon, who welcomed CM Yogi and outlined the proceedings of the programme. Several authority figures like MP Ravikishan Shukla, District Panchayat President Sadhna Singh, and Mayor Mangalesh Srivastava were also present.
