The health departments in Hamilton County, Catoosa County and Walker County recently conducted half-yearly inspections of local food joints. This is done using a strict scoring system out of 100 that assesses cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene levels. Any establishment scoring below 70 must make immediate improvements or face a strict reinspection.
The Strict Scoring System Explained
The disclosed scores show the condition of the venue at the time of inspection. It doesn’t take into account any immediate improvements made post-inspection that could increase the score. The forceful grading system underlines the need for consistent health standards rather than last-minute fixes before an inspection.
Recent Inspection Results
Last week, ending on January 16, was a satisfactory one for food places in these counties as none failed the inspection. Scores fell between 71 and 90, showing that food-service providers are committed to maintaining health standards. Some scores included Osaka Chattanooga Inc. managing a 71, Logan’s Roadhouse achieving 82, and Moe’s Southwest Grill scoring 84. Sharing scores of 85 and 86 were Subway and Huddle House, tied with Twins Pizza & Steak. Taking the lead was The Chattanooga Cookie with a score of 90, showcasing excellent health and food safety practices.
Encouraging Community Engagement
The health departments of Hamilton County, Catoosa County, and Walker County are aiming for community involvement in the health standards process. The public is invited to report any health-related complaints via provided contact numbers. This encourages a community-focused approach to restaurant cleanliness and allows members of the public to play an active role in the health standards of their preferred eateries.
